Below you will find a list of the different science units we will be studying this year.
![]() | Plants In this unit we will be studying the life cycle of plants, what plants need to survive and how plants are alike and different. They will get to look and feel the different parts of a plant and by growing their own bean plant, they will observe how plants grow. |
Animals In this unit we will be studying and comparing the life cycle of different animals, animal groups and how animals stay alive. We will research animals and share with the class and we will compare and contrast animal group characteristics. | ![]() |
![]() | Habitats In this unit we will be studying the different kinds of habitats, how habitats change, and food chains/webs. The students will be creating habitat posters to share with the class. The students will also be writing reports of their habitat. We will also be comparing and contrasting the different types of habitats. The students will be creating a food chain as it relates to their life. |
Matter In this unit we will be studying solids, liquids and gases and how each form of matter changes. We will be exploring and comparing the different types of matter. We will also see how matter changes by doing a some experiments. | ![]() |
![]() | Motion and Energy In this unit we will be studying how things move, heat, sound, light and electricity. We will be doing experiments to test how things move, what heat energy does, how sound travels, how light affects colors and we will be working with circuits. |
Our Earth In this unit we will be studying the earth's land and water and the earth's resources. We will be comparing and sculpting the different landforms and we will be comparing earth's different resources. The students will also be using thier senses to explore rocks and minerals. | ![]() |
![]() | Weather and Sky In this unit we will be comparing different types of weather and learning about the water cycle. We will also be studying the stars, planets and factors that cause day and night. We will be creating and exploring constellations, the students will be researching and creating models of the solar system. |
